Hancom Genie K Corp. (hereinafter referred to as the "Company" or "Hancom Genie K Services") complies with the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (hereinafter "ICT Network Act") and other related laws that ICT service providers must follow. We have established this Privacy Policy in accordance with the relevant laws to do our best to protect the rights and interests of our users.

Chapter 1: Types and Methods of Collecting Personal Information

The Company collects personal information for membership registration, service provision, scholarship programs, and other consultations. We may also request personal information for group statistical analysis during surveys or events or for the purpose of sending prizes. However, we do not collect sensitive personal information (e.g., race, beliefs, origin, political inclination, criminal records, etc.) that may infringe on the basic human rights of users unless absolutely necessary, and only with prior consent from users. The information provided will not be used for any other purpose than the ones stated beforehand.

The details of the information collected are as follows:

Initial Membership Registration

You have the right not to consent to the collection and use of personal information. However, if you refuse, you may not be able to register as a member or receive services. Note that there is no problem with membership registration and service use if you refuse optional items.

Automatically Generated Information During Service Purchase and Use

  • Items collected during payment and use process:
    • Payment: Card company name, Card number, Expiry date, Mobile phone number, Email, Carrier, Payment approval number, Bank name, Account number
    • Delivery: Delivery address, Postal code, Recipient, Purchased product information
    • Scholarship refund: Username, Mobile phone number, Scholarship challenge level, Bank name, Account number, Account holder
    • Consultation: Name, Phone number, Available consultation times, Consultation details
  • Automatically collected items:
    • IP Address, Cookies, Date of visit, Service usage records

Method of Collecting Personal Information

Information is collected through the homepage, applications, telephone, consultation boards, event participation, delivery requests, and other information-generation tools.

Chapter 2. Purpose of Collecting and Using Personal Information

Hancom Genie K collects personal information for the following purposes:

  • Fulfillment of service-related contracts and billing related to the provision of services
  • Providing content, shipping goods, sending invoices, identity verification, purchasing and payment processing, financial services, member management
  • Identity verification for the use of membership services, prevention of unauthorized use and misuse by malicious members, confirmation of intent to join, age verification, verification of legal guardian consent for minors under 14 years, handling complaints, notifications, service announcements, marketing and advertising, new service development, personalized service and advertising based on demographic characteristics, access frequency analysis, statistical analysis of service use by members, and delivering advertising messages and events.

Chapter 3. Consent for Personal Information Collection

Hancom Genie K obtains consent for the collection of personal information. During the membership registration process within our company, we have established a procedure for consenting to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you check the ["I agree to the Terms and Policy"] box, you are considered to have consented to the collection of personal information.

Chapter 4.Retention and Usage Period of Personal Information

As long as the service user continues to use our service as a member, Hancom Genie K will retain and use the personal information for the provision of services.

The personal information of service users will be destroyed in an irrecoverable manner once the purpose of its collection and use (including temporary purposes like surveys and events) has been achieved, or if the user deletes their account or requests account termination.

Hancom Genie K may retain the personal information for 1 year from the date of termination of the user's account for the prevention of rights abuse, to respond to rights infringement/disparagement disputes, and to assist in investigations, if necessary.

If retention is necessary under applicable laws, Hancom Genie K will retain the member information for the legally mandated period. The retention period is as follows:

Chapter 5. Procedures and Methods for Destroying Personal Information

You can view or edit your registered personal information at any time, and you can request account termination. You can view and modify your personal information after logging in through the website. However, IDs, social security numbers, and names cannot be modified.

If you wish to terminate your account, you can do it through the website. Please consider carefully as all registered information will be destroyed upon termination, and there may be restrictions on re-registration. The procedure and method of destroying personal information are as follows:

Destruction Procedure

Information entered by users for the purpose of registration is transferred to a separate DB (or a separate document box in the case of paper) after the purpose has been achieved and is stored for a certain period according to internal policies and relevant laws (see Retention and Use Period) before being destroyed.

The personal information will not be used for any purpose other than its retention unless required by law.

Destruction Method

Personal information printed on paper is destroyed by shredding or incineration.

Personal information stored in electronic file format is deleted using technical methods that make it irretrievable.

Chapter 6: Outsourcing of Collected Personal Information

For the purpose of smooth business operations, Hancom Genie K outsources personal information as described below. We establish necessary provisions to ensure the secure management of personal information in compliance with relevant laws when entering into outsourcing agreements.

Chapter 7: Rights of the Users and Their Legal Representatives and How to Exercise Them

Users and legal representatives can view or modify their own registered personal information or that of a child under the age of 14 at any time. They can also request membership termination.

For viewing or modifying the personal information of a user or a child under the age of 14, you can click on 'Edit Member Information' (or 'Change Member Information' etc.). For membership termination, click on 'Membership Withdrawal' and follow the identity verification procedures to directly view, modify, or terminate the account.

Alternatively, you may contact the Personal Information Protection Officer in writing, by phone, or by email, and immediate action will be taken.

If a user requests the correction of errors in their personal information, the corrected information will not be used or provided until the correction is completed. If incorrect personal information has already been provided to a third party, we will promptly notify the third party so that corrections can be made.

Personal information terminated or deleted at the request of the user or legal representative will be handled according to the stipulations stated in "Retention and Use Period of Personal Information," and will not be viewed or used for any other purpose.

Chapter 8: Installation, Operation, and Opt-Out of Automatic Personal Information Collection Devices

Cookies are small data files sent from an HTTP server to your browser and stored on your computer. Hancom Genie K uses these cookies to obtain information about your browser type and your service usage patterns. This cookie information serves as the basis for offering you more useful and convenient customized services.

You have the option to control the use of cookies. You can choose to accept all cookies, confirm each time a cookie is stored, or refuse all cookies through your web browser options. However, if you choose to refuse cookies, you will be unable to use any Hancom Genie K services requiring login.

Chapter 9: Technical and Administrative Measures for Personal Information Protection

Your personal information is protected by a password. Only you have access to your account password, and thus only you can confirm or change your personal information. Therefore, you should never disclose your password to anyone. Additionally, it is advisable to log out and close your web browser after finishing your activities. This is especially important if you are sharing a computer with someone else or using a computer in a public place. Hancom Genie K is not responsible for the disclosure of personal information due to user negligence or Internet-related issues.

We minimize the number of employees who handle personal information and emphasize compliance with our personal information protection policy through regular training.

Hancom Genie K takes the following Technical and Administrative Measures for Personal Information Protection:

  • We employ a firewall and security systems to prevent hacking.
  • We install an SSL security server certificate for transmitting personal information.
  • Access to personal information is restricted to those who need to handle it as part of their job, preventing unauthorized access from other employees.

Chapter 10: Children's Personal Information

As a rule, Hancom Genie K does not collect personal information from children under the age of 14. However, we may collect children's personal information with the legal guardian's consent in special cases.

Hancom Genie K takes every precaution to protect your personal information, but you also need to ensure that your password and other details are not exposed to third parties. Please be especially cautious when using PCs in public places.

Furthermore, under no circumstances will Hancom Genie K ask for your password via telephone or email. Therefore, you should only use your ID and password yourself, and it is advisable to change your password frequently. Hancom Genie K makes every effort to protect personal information but is not responsible for the exposure of personal information that is not due to our mistake or negligence.
